    6 Medicinal Taste of Ayurveda

Ayurvedic nutrition and herbal medicine mainly use these tastes to define the medicinal action that will be created in the body from a substance. All substances have qualities known in Ayurveda as gurvadi gunas; for example, heating, cooling, light, heavy, unctuous, drying, etc. It is through these qualities that we define and fine-tune the possible actions a substance will create in the body. Each of these qualities and tastes has an important therapeutic role in the way our body responds to food, herbs and minerals. The properties of each substance are largely due to the ratio of elements(building blocks) a substance contains.

On Tap Healing E-Book: Does Your Water Heal You or a Hidden Cause of Your Disease?

Growing up, many of us were taught to drink lots of water. Water is supposed to be pure and healthy, with a neutral pH. In theory, this is absolutely true, yet because most people use water from modern water sources which tend to strip away healing properties (and often add unwanted nasties), most of the water we drink is far from pure, healthy or pH neutral.

In this e-book, I look at some of the issues with our common water supplies and suggest some easy options for having healing water at home.

For those who wish to go deeper into the whys and wherefores of water filtration systems (and potentially become as devoted to them as I have!). I’ll also include chapters on how hydration works, and what makes the crucial elements of healing water so effective.

I have a strong preference for a particular water filter above others, but I believe it’s important to be empowered by knowledge about your own health, so ultimately I’d like this e-book to help you reach your own conclusions about the various products available to you.

    Enjoy,

    Kimmana

    Ayurvedic Daily Routine Cheat Sheet

Since the beginning of life on earth, we have all evolved and been shaped by the influence of the rising and setting Sun. This relationship is so strong that many of the physiological processes inside our bodies are regulated and timed according to the daily and seasonal cycle of the Sun. In conventional science, the relationship between changing body functions and times of the day is known as bio-rhythms or circadian rhythms.

If we align our lives and actions to the rhythms which nature intended, the environment supports the actions and there is less effort needed by the body. Ayurveda uses a diagnosis and treatment model which assesses time, season, place and individual. These four factors give insight into the possible causes of imbalance and the ideal path to wellness. Of these, time is the most important.

The 7 Guidelines of Ayurvedic Sattvic Diet

Depending upon the nature of the food, all substances we consume will have an effect on our mind. It's because food is seen as a carrier of the life force called prana and is judged by the quality of its prana and by the effect it has on our consciousness. The Bhagavad Ghita describes the sattvic diet as “promoting life, virtue, strength, health, happiness and satisfaction”.

Consumption of sattvic food promotes serenity, increases the duration of life, gives strength, satisfaction, and peace. These vibrations encourage the mind to expand and increase its subtle feelings.

Sattvic food is highly conducive to good health because it promotes a state where choosing health forming actions feels effortless and easy. It makes our willpower strong because there are less old patterns and desires to resist against. It also gives us the subtle nourishment necessary for vitality and higher states of consciousness.

In this chart, you will learn the seven principles on how to create more clarity and mental peace. To get the most out of these 7 principles, please watch our online class here, where we share deeper on this topic.

    Value Determining Process

When you live according to your highest values, you become inspired and awaken genius. When you live according to your lower values you require continuous outside motivation and you suppress your genius. Your present purpose or mission for life will reflect your present highest values.

The hierarchy of your values determine how you perceive (what you selectively attend to) and how you act (what you selectively intend upon) in your world and therefore they determine your immediate destiny. Since your values change over time, your destiny, therefore, changes over time.

In this chart, you will learn how to determine your life values, therefore, helping you to create the life you love, and please watch our online class here, where we share deeper on this topic.

    Functional Movement Pattern

Why exercise the functional movement pattern? It's because these patterns strengthen the most important muscles of the body. If performed in ideal alignment and at a very slow speed, they strengthen the muscles in ways which encourage quality movement (functional movement) in daily life and protection of the structure.

Practising them multiple times each week will allow greater efficiency in daily muscular movement, protect the joints, and increase strength and flexibility.

    Agni (Digestion) Type Quiz

Agni is seen as the Ayurvedic metaphor for all metabolic functions in the body. It includes the digestive function, sense perception, cellular metabolism and mental assimilation. It can be correlated to a person’s ability to effectively transform all of life which they are exposed to.

If the Agni is functioning well they can transform food and experiences into quality tissues and experienced knowledge. If Agni is functioning poorly then the body will accumulate disease promoting half-digested waste products which Ayurveda refers to as Ama.

    Ama (Half digested by-product) Quiz

Ama literally means unripe, uncooked, immature and undigested. It is the by-product of a process that did not get converted to the desired substance, and takes the form of something similar to Kapha: sticky, heavy, viscous, slimy, unctuous, wet, cold, and is related to the rasa (medicinal taste) of sweet.

It is important to restate the relationship between Agni and Ama, as they are intimately connected. If Agni is strong, then it is difficult to create a strong Ama problem in the body.
